Charles Byrne: Hunterian Museum statement

Commenting on media reports on the campaign to return the remains of Charles Byrne to Ireland, a spokesperson for the Hunterian Museum said,
“The Hunterian Museum is currently closed and undergoing re-development. It will not be re-opening for at least another two years. An update on plans for all the displays in the new Museum will be issued in due course.”

The Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England has at its heart the anatomy and pathology collections of the eighteenth century surgeon and anatomist John Hunter. The building has been closed since 2017 to undergo a major redevelopment.
