Global Christmas Appeals Winter update 2020
In 2017 our Christmas Appeals embarked on a three year journey supporting three very different yet vital global projects. We delighted to provide an update on these projects and see the impact you have made.
It is the generosity of our supporters that helped the teams to achieve these fantastic outcomes and we thank you all for your on-going support and interest in our work.
Global Appeals Winter update 2020
This year's winter appeal is supporting pioneering research to beat COVID-19
With your support, the COVID-19 Research Group’s projects will provide new services and possibilities for surgeons and patients in the UK and beyond:
A novel aerosol extractor to reduce infection risk around the surgical wound site during surgery (£5,000).
Animations in three different languages that give discharge advice tailored to the patient and support the remote management of COVID-19 patients (£8,000).
Two new UK-wide studies to determine the impact of the pandemic on patients with pancreatic cancer (£10,000).
Running Events are Back on Track for 2021
#FitFor surgery
The year 2020 was tough and many of us took solace in pounding the tarmac to keep fit. Why not use that newfound energy and take the challenge to run in support of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Running not only helps you to improve your fitness, the money you raise will help us maintain and advance surgical care for patients through our state of the art training and pioneering research. We have places in various distanced runs with opportunities for the already very sporty and for those who would like to try something for the first time.

Sue & Tim's cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats - 18 March 2020 - POSTPONED
In response to the challenge of COVID-19, RCS Council members Sue Hill and Tim Mitchell, who were due to start their cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats on 16 April, have regrettably taken the decision to postpone their cycle ride. They feel that it's sensible not to go ahead at this difficult time.
Sue and Tim and their chosen charity Myeloma UK would like to thank everyone who has donated to their Virgin Money page so far, and they will arrange a new date as soon as they can.
